Marie Philip School

Marie Philip School, enrolling children in preschool through grade 12 and up to 22 years of age, is a day and residential school that provides highly individualized education and a broad range of support services for over 200 deaf and hard of hearing students. We offer a language-rich, bilingual-bicultural environment where both American Sign Language and English are used in instruction.

Five-day boarding—available for for qualifying students in the middle and high school programs—teaches vital transition skills needed for post-graduate life. In a home-like atmosphere, with varying levels of staff support, students who reside at TLC during the week develop independent living skills. Through the use of the Casey Life Skills Curriculum and working closely with TLC’s Transition Services and the Career and Technology Education Program, the residential program provides structure and community-based opportunities for students to master the following skills:

  • Personal Finance

  • Home Management

  • Food and Nutrition Awareness

  • Decision Making

  • Community Resources

  • Accessing Transportation

  • Clothing Care and Purchases

Open Monday after school through Friday morning (following the academic calendar), each residence has laundry access, a kitchen, and a computer lab. After-school programming includes the MPS Athletic Program, a variety of internships, community service, homework support, tutoring, and/or part-time employment.

Marie Philip School is approved and licensed by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education and the Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care.

TLC is accredited by The Council on Accreditation (COA); New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC); The Conference of Educational Administrators of Schools for the Deaf (CEASD).
